Friday ‘Mothers’ Café
Don’t miss this week’s ‘Mothers‘ Café!
Mother’s day is Sunday May 14 in many parts of the world. To mark the occasion, let’s name notable mothers in ancient Greek works, and other works too.
Now, “notable mothers” doesn’t necessarily mean good mothers. For instance, the mother(s) you choose might be notable for being a really bad parent, or her mothering prowess might be debatable. So, when you post your choice, please tell is what kind of a mother she was.
I’m selecting Penelope as a notable mom by virtue of the fact she is a key actor in one of the greatest epics of all time. So, yes, she was notable. But notable in which way? Before I decide, I need your help. Though widely praised for being Odysseus’ heroically steadfast wife was she also a great mother for Telemachus?
