Celebrate Valentine’s Day on Hour 25!
Some say an army of horsemen,
some of footsoldiers, some of ships,
is the fairest thing on the black earth,
but I say it is what one loves.
(Sappho 16, lines 1-4, trans. Julia Dubnoff)
Join us on Friday, February 14 in the Hour 25 Project Chatroom from 1:00-2:00 p.m EST for a community discussion about the beautiful poems of Sappho!
The Hour 25 Book Club will also host a live chat on Sappho in the Project Chatroom on Tuesday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m EST.
We will read the Sappho selection in the HeroesX Sourcebook, the two recently discovered Sappho poems and “Did Sappho and Alcaeus Ever Meet?” by Professor Gregory Nagy.
For additional information or to sign up for this event, please respond to the associated topic in the discussion forum.

On Thursday May 23rd at 4:00 p.m EDT Professor Gregory Nagy and his friends will join members of Hour 25 for a live discussion and broadcast via Google hangout to discuss;
-
How is kingship depicted and does it reflect the historical situation?
-
If Nestor is ‘never at fault’ does that affect how we can understand his role in the Odyssey?
- Is Odysseus the last of the epic heroes, and if so, what about Telemakhos’ generation?

Please join us on Thursday, August 21st at 11:00 a.m. EDT for a CHS Open House Discussion with Professor Graeme Bird (Gordon College). Prof. Bird will join members of the Hour 25 and CHS community for a discussion about Homeric poetry and jazz music.
Everyone is invited to watch the broadcast at the appointed day and time here.
