Book Club | January 2018: Choruses of Young Women in Ancient Greece

Wordcloud with chorus of girls

Our first Book Club selection for the new year is from Claude Calame: Choruses of Young Women in Ancient Greece, which is available from the Center for Hellenic Studies Publications website.

We will all read Chapter 1, “Introduction”, and then if you wish you can read any other chapter of your choice.

You can find the Alcman Fragment 1 “Partheneion,”—translated by Gregory Nagy—in the Sourcebook, or on the CHS website.

The discussion will start and continue in the forum, and we will meet via Google+ Hangout on Tuesday January 30, at 11 a.m. EST.

Happy readings!
