Brian Prescott-Decie was born in England in 1951. He went to the King’s School, Canterbury and then to Oxford where he studied Modern History. On leaving university, he went to Greece to learn modern Greek. He stayed as a teacher, first in Thessaly and later in Thessaloniki until an earthquake forced him to move to Athens, where he joined a publishing company which took him to Egypt, Cyprus and eventually to Lebanon. In 2002, he returned to teaching History, Latin and Ancient Greek at the Lebanese American University in Beirut, from which he has recently retired. He still teaches part time. He is married with three children and lives in the hills above Beirut.
